Aloha Parents — This is a reminder about Bus Behavior and Safety.  Please review the policies and procedures of the DOE School Bus Handbook and Application Form.  There is a section on who to contact for complaints, as well as the disciplinary actions involving students.  Also,  please review the bus expectations for your child on page 5.

2018-19 School Bus Handbook.pdf

We recently had a incident in which one of bus driver felt the need to stop on the side of the road to address student behavior on the bus.  I know this caused some concern from parents because the bus did not arrive at the designated bus stops in a timely manner.  Please know that the following actions were taken by the school.

1.  Meeting with the Bus Company representative;
2.  Notification to the DOE Transportation who manages the Bus Company Contract; and
3.  Meeting with specific students, as well as a general assembly to remind students about bus behavior and bus safety.   (Note:  There are video cameras on the bus, and we will refer to the videos if needed.)

One of the more common infractions among students is walking or switching seats while the bus moving.  Also most recently, playing Pogs or other games in the bus aisles while the bus is moving.  We have reminded children that these are unsafe behaviors, we would appreciate if you would speak to your children also.

If you have further questions about this, or other bus incidents, please let us know and we will follow up.

Thank you,

Lydia Trinidad
