Aloha Staff and Families — As we head into Spring Break there will be there are many issues and challenges that the State of Hawaii and our community will be facing as we respond to the fast-developing  COVID-19 health situation.

Moving forward, Kualapuu PCCS will continue to align with the Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) and the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) in response to COVID-19.

I am in touch with the Hawaii Charter School Commission leadership and DOE leadership to get the latest information and the most appropriate school response.  The DOE and DOH are working together to provide guidelines for schools to follow in planning for the levels of emergency that we may face in the event of increasing cases in Hawaii.  I will be providing timely updates as I receive them.  You can also view all of the DOE memos and information on the Hawaii DOE websiteYou can also visit the Hawaii Charter School Commission website at

As with our regular Kualapuu School calendar, Kualapu’u has a scheduled two week Spring Break starting March 16-29th, with school scheduled to resume on Monday, March 30th.  You will be notified if there are any changes to this plan.

NOTE:  It is my understanding the DOE schools are extending the student break with return to school on Monday, March 30th.  If you have a student in a DOE school, please check the DOE website or call your child’s school for clarification.

I will be sending information via our SchoolMessenger email, school website, and our Facebook page.  Please check daily for any updates.
