Aloha Families –Thank you to those of you who have participated in our parent feedback session, or have viewed parent meeting recording.  We are providing additional information on our instructional options.  Kualapuu is attempting to offering 3 options for instructional delivery.  And guess what, we think we can make it work!  Please read the information CAREFULLY.  We have set up another parent question & answer session on Monday, July 13, 2020
 
IMPORTANT:  IF YOU HAVE NOT SELECTED A PROGRAM, YOUR CHILD WILL BE PLACED INTO THE BLENDED/HYBRID PROGRAM.  (Half-Day model).  If you already selected your child’s placement and want to change the placement, please resubmit your survey.  We are looking at the latest entry for those students with multiple entries.

1.  Face to Face Model (Students come full-day, every day; Monday-Friday.  Note:  There is a limited set of spaces for this model…and we still have space.)
  • 7:45am – 2:45pm
  • 10 -15 students in a class
  • Space allows for 6 feet social distancing in classrooms at all times
  • Students and teacher will be considered a “pod” and will not intermingle with other groups
  • Any outsider student/adult entering the space will be required to wear a mask
  • Teacher can wear a mask at all times, students in the “pod” are not expected to wear masks in the classroom
  • Students are expected to wear masks in hallways and other areas outside of the classroom
  • Students are not expected to wear masks during recess or PE
  • We are working on bus transportation (2 per seat, students MUST wear masks.  If students do not wear masks, the bus driver will offer.  If child refuses to use masks, the child may lose bus riding privileges.)
 
2.  Half Day – Hybrid Model  (Each student will come Monday-Friday, only for half- day)
  • Same as above, except for 1st bullet re:start/end times
  • Two half day sessions:
  • Session 1:  AM – 8:00 – 10:45am, take home lunch
  • Session 2:  PM – 12 – 2:45pm, Lunch offered at 11:30am
  • Enrichment and specials classes will be offered virtually
  • We are working on bus transportation (2 per seat, students MUST wear masks.  If students do not wear masks, the bus driver will offer.  If child refuses to use masks, the child may lose bus riding privileges.)
3.  Virtural
  • An adult must be available at home to support student learning and communicate with teacher
  • 1-2 teachers will be assigned to all virtual students
  • Classes will be multi-grade and may not be the typically assigned teacher for specific grade levels
  • Minimum 2x/month on campus sessions will be required.  Focus on SEL, and interactive Face to Face activities; learning
  • Curriculum will be offered through the SeeSaw platform (or another selected virtual platform)
  • Asynchronous (work on your own), 1:1, and synchronous (small group/class) virtual models will be used through the Zoom platform
  • High student participation and parent communication will be required. If this becomes a concern other models may be offered to best support student learning
  • Technology devices are available for student at home use. 
  • Families will need to have own internet service, or access to internet.
 
Other important information:
  • SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST:  In light of our Covid situation, we are revisiting our school supply list.  This will be sent to parents after July 20th.  Stay tuned.
  • Per HSTA Contact, the first 9 students days are selected at half-days (July 30-August 11).  There will be a special schedule for students.  We also plan to have parent meetings on virtual and on-campus during this time.  The tentative full start of “school” is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 12th
