Thank you parents/families for your patience and understanding. Some of you have emailed or texted us directly with questions. Our goal is to communicate with accuracy and discretion, with the best information we are able to give at that time. Your questions do give us a sense of what information you need moving forward.
Our focus yesterday was gathering accurate information and communicating with relevant families. We communicated directly with the confirmed family involved to gather information. Second, we contacted classmates’ families of the potentially exposed student(s). In addition, we contacted relevant staff/teachers of the potentially exposed student(s). We also communicated with the Charter School Commission Office, Ho’okako’o Board, Department of Health, and Molokai Complex DOE.
We understand that some of you may have gotten Covid tested on your own because of the school’s information, family connection, and/or community information. In the spirit of communication, if you voluntarily wish to share your Covid testing results with the school please contact us via email. We will treat this information confidentially and with discretion. Any information shared with us will inform our action plans at school. Again, this is completely voluntary on your part to share.
Our school campus will be closed from Monday, August 31-Thursday, September 3rd. Distance Learning opportunities are available to all of our students at this time. As mentioned in previous parent orientations, we are using SeeSaw and Zoom as our distance learning online platforms. Instruction for THIS WEEK:
- Virtual Students (HLIP virtual students and students in Mrs. Cummings Class) — status quo: all reading, writing, math and resource classes are still on as usual via SeeSaw and Zoom;
- Half-Day Students (also known as Hybrid Students) — resource classes are still available via SeeSaw to your child, for other assignments your child’s homeroom teacher will be contacting you;
- Full Day Students — resource classes will be available to your child via SeeSaw (starting Tuesday), for other assignments your child’s homeroom teacher will be contacting you.
If you need to borrow a computer/iPad from the school please complete the Device Request Form — earliest pick up date would be Friday September 4th (Please wait for more information via email.)
If you have a device at home for your child(ren) and your child is ready to begin lessons on SeeSaw they may begin their SeeSaw assignments assigned to their class (see above).

From Monday, Aug 31-Thursday, Sept 3rd, we will NOT be serving any meals, as the campus is closed during this time. We will give you updates.
