Another long email with many details…Please read carefully.
The Covid-19 situation is very fluid, and presents many challenges and factors. As a result, Kualapuu School will be transitioning to distance learning from now until Friday, September 11th, with the possibility of extending beyond this day. A determining factor of the extension of distance learning is the number of confirmed Covid cases that are directly impacting the school. As of this email, there are no known positive cases with Kualapuu staff or students. Of course we understand that events can evolve quickly.
Your teacher child’s teacher should have already contacted you about learning activities you can do at home. If your child’s teacher has not contacted you, please let us know so we can follow up.
For Packet Pick up and Computer Pick up– Friday, September 4th, 9-12pm. This is a drive through activity so please drive up and stay in your car. This is if you have request a device or your teacher has arranged for a packet or material pick up.
****For Hawaiian Immersion, Computer and Packet Pick up–Tuesday, September 8th, 9-11am. Please go to G-wing parking lot. More information will be forthcoming from your child’s teacher.

We hope that with safe practices islandwide and statewide, the number of Covid cases will be greatly reduced. We also hope we will have other safe practices and protocols in place so that school does NOT need to close in the event Molokai has another Covid case impacting school.
Future Steps: Some of you may want to have Virtual Instruction for your child. Virtual Instruction means you want and can support your child at home for more than a quarter and that an on-line platform is something that you want for your child on a daily basis, even if face-to-face school is in session. If you wish to switch to a Virtual Program for your child in the 2nd quarter, please contact [email protected]. We will need to re-assign some of our teaching staff to the Virtual assignment based on your requests. Please know that you MUST have internet service to participate in virtual instruction. (Distance learning is a term we use for temporary instruction with the intent of returning to face-to-face when conditions allow.)
We thank you again. There’s a lot of information that has been coming your way. We are scheduling a parent talk story on Thursday, September 3, 3-4pm, if you wish talk-story or have question.
